Gig Volume #25: INSERVIBLES / THE WANKYS / NEKROMANTIKER / THE INJECTIONS

Gig Volume #25:

The next show we're doing is another collaberation with our good friends from The Big Takeover, which is a collective putting on DIY shows around the London area in non-bar spaces, be sure to check them out if you haven't already as they do great shows. This time, we're bringing you the killer hardcore/garage punk sounds of Mexico's Inservibles! Also along for the show are long time favourites The Wankys, who are on tour with Holland's Nekromantiker, who did a pretty good 7" ep earlier this year. If you're into noise punk, check it out while it's still floating around in distros. Opening will be the UK/Japanese collaberation/clusterfuck known as The Injections.

Here's Bryony's descriptions about the band and the space:

"So Excited for this one. Big Takeover returns, with the help of Static Shock Gig Volume, to do what we do best, a punk gig with a bunch of amazing noise punk bands from all over the world, in a killer, HUGE autonomous space in the heart of the city, opened to you scumbags for one night only.

The bands:

INSERVIBLES

It's rare enough for a Mexican band to make it to the UK, let alone one this AWESOME. Totally raw n raging DIY hardcore punk from Mexico City.

THE WANKYS

Leicester in life, Kyushu Island in spirit, these veteran noise punk road dogs with releases on La Vida es un Mus and Noise Punk records return to London to approximate such classics as HEY CRUSTY and PUNK ROCK LIFE. Anyone who remembers BTO3 will know what to expect.

NEKROMANTIKER

Truly atrocious dutch cretins turn distortion into deafness!

THE INJECTIONS

Mystery noise punk project based between Japan and UK!

There will be all kinds of surprises happening all night, a cheap bar as well as the options to BYOB. The door charge is £5.

Resist the proposed criminalisation of squatting that threatens independent culture everywhere - use, support and respect these spaces!"

The space itself is perfect as well. Don't miss this!

Gig Volume #24: NIGHT BIRDS / DOWN AND OUTS / SAUNA YOUTH / CHRIS AND THE ZIPCODES / LITTLE EASE

STATIC SHOCK GIG VOLUME #24:

NIGHT BIRDS
High quality punk rock from the USA. The musical inspiration's drawn from the Cali Classics - Adolescents, Agent Orange, Dead Kennedys - and the lyrics are straight off the blurb of your favourite video nasty. You might've expected the personnel to be resting on the laurels of their previous groups - the Ergs, among others - but all the better that they didn't, because Night Birds fucking rip.

DOWN AND OUTS
Seeing as we already asked the Zipcodes to play, it made sense to invite the Down and Outs onto the bill as well! For the last 8 or so years, they've played killer anthemic punk rock along the lines of Cock Sparrer, Blitz, The Clash etc and put out records on Dead and Gone, Yoyo, Rat Patrol etc. Get down front and sing along.

SAUNA YOUTH
As Sauna Youth had to pull out last minute of The Real Numbers show we did last week, they're making it up to us by jumping on this bill, and we're glad to have them here! Ultra catchy garage punk with perhaps a slightly 'arty' twist (if that phrase didn't bring up any negative connotations). Ex-members of The Steal, and currrent Tense Men among others.

ZIPCODES
From Liverpool, the Down and Outs swap around their instruments, and enlist one member of Amateur Video / Violent Reaction, and then play totally pogoable punk rock. Think Briefs, The Rezillos, Exploding Hearts etc.

LITTLE EASE
Pop punk from Brighton...

Fast hardcore from San Francisco, USA with releases on 625 Thrashcore and Deathwish Inc. Their second time in London following last years ridiculous Big Takeover show.

LOMA PRIETA
"Furious, emo-influenced hardcore punk. As difficult to digest as they are to describe, this band will fling you up to moments of complete empathetic joy before crushing you into a heartbreaking, dischordant mess. For fans of Comadre, Touché Amoré + Ampere." (Jay Cross)
